Computer Literacy Program (CLP) USA
Founded in 2004 by a group of Bangladeshi-Americans in New Jersey, USA, Computer Literacy Program (CLP) USA started with a vision of empowering underprivileged youth through computer literacy training and instruction aided by technology. Through its work, CLP works to bridge the educational and technological gaps among underprivileged secondary school students in Bangladesh. Since CLP’s conception seventeen years ago, it has expanded its operations to include computer literacy centers, smart classrooms equipped with large monitors and computers, and a Connect Students Around the World program that provides a virtual space for students from different countries to communicate and connect, fostering friendship and a development in English language skills. Additionally, CLP hosts an Education Through Entertainment program that provides an entertaining platform for students to learn about topics like global awareness and tolerance and a Remote Volunteer Teaching program that creates opportunities for rural students to participate in live virtual classes from subject-based experts from across the globe. CLP also develops training materials and curriculums that are used for instruction and training in Computer Literacy Centers and Smart Classrooms.
Through its numerous programs dedicated to aiding the underprivileged, the CLP has established centers in 55 districts in Bangladesh which include 280 Computer Literacy Centers, 197 Smart Classrooms, and 97 Associate Centers. The CLP has trained 1,499 teachers to train in Computer Literacy Centers and Smart Classrooms and has had 130,000 students successfully complete its courses. Furthermore, the CLP has worked to close the gender gap in education in Bangladesh with 50% of the students and 25% of the teachers being women.
With CLP's provision of the infrastructure necessary to carry out distance learning, we are looking forward to overseeing volunteer recruitment, managing remote class routines, and coordinating communication between remote teachers and smart classroom management teams across the country. We are humbled to partner with CLP in streamlining a sustainable remote teaching program throughout Bangladesh.
